Q+A with Sylvie from +ESTATEofMIND

Crown St, Surry Hills is one of my favourite shopping destinations in Sydney. You can stroll down the leafy street for hours and stumble upon some amazing treasures. Last year I discovered +ESTATEofMIND, an amazingly quirky boutique and home of some of Australia's most exciting designers, such as Michael Lo Sordo, Flowers for a Vagabond and Ashleigh Taylor
The Fashion Patriot chatted with owner of +ESTATEofMIND, Sylvie to find out why +ESTATEofMIND is so special and some of her favourite pieces in store at the moment.

Martin Grant to design new Qantas uniforms

After an 8 month search, Australian-born and Paris-based designer, Martin Grant has been chosen to design the new Qantas uniforms. Grant's Qantas debut is set to take place in 2014, and are to replace Peter Morrissey's Aboriginal-inspired uniforms.

Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce said he hopes the new uniform will provide the same emotional reaction as the white kangaroo on the red tail. Grant expressed his excitement for his new job saying, "when I'm travelling, whenever I see a Qantas aircraft in a terminal I get very excited"

The uniforms won't be unveiled for quite sometime... But I can't wait!

The uber glam, Cannes Film Festival was held over the past week, and everyone who's anyone was in town bringing their fashion A-game.

The Australian face of L'Oreal, Megan Gale made an appearance on behalf the cosmetics company, and she absolutely shone on the red-carpet. The Aussie supermodel made her Cannes debut in a dazzling Alex Perry gown.

Gale explained the reason for choosing her close friend to dress her for the event, "for my first night I really wanted to support the Australian fashion industry and walked the red carpet wearing a one-off custom-made Alex Perry gown”.... PREACH! I love when Australians support Australian designers!! All I can say is that Megan looked absolutely amazing, and Mr. Perry must be ecstatic that one of his creations has graced one of the most elegant red carpet events in the World!

Kirstie Clements' final Vogue Aus Cover

As we mentioned earlier this month, Kirstie Clements' 13-year run at Vogue Australia has come to an end. It has been announced that her final issue will be the upcoming July issue, which comes on sale on June 6.

Clements' final cover features, Voice judge, Delta Goodrem. Vogue Australia's Features Director Alexandra Spring explains the inspiration behind the cover and spread, “it would be fair to say that viewers are seeing a different side to Our Delta. We wanted to show her a little more raw and sensual; to let her natural beauty shine through. Gone is the shy, demure teen, behold a feistier and unashamedly ambitious Goodrem, who wants to win”.

A number of previews have been released which see Delta in looking pretty in all-black ensembles.

I don't know about you, but I am definitely excited to receive my copy of the July issue!

Not to mention, the anticipation of Edwina McCann's first Vogue Australia issue is almost killing me!

E! News co-host, Giuliana Rancic is known for wearing Australian designers in the past, and last week, when I was being updated on the latest in celebrity gossip I noticed the mum-to-be rocking a peplum Maurie & Eve dress. I am obsessed with this black and white print, I've been lusting for the Olivia one-shoulder dress in this print all winter.

On a side note, I would just like to say how incredibly happy I am for Giuliana and her husband Bill, after a years of receiving terrible news, it is so exciting they're finally expecting a baby! This happy ending couldn't happen to more deserving people - Congratulations! X

Designer Spotlight: Batson

Two weeks ago I had the amazing pleasure of attending a press showing at the PR Department. The PR Department is a newly established Sydney-based PR company that represents an array of formidable emerging designers, including Batson. Batson is a Brisbane-based label, headed up by designer, Bianca, who's heading to Central Saint Martins in a week, and has previously studied at Queensland University of Technology. Bianca has really taken digital prints to the next level with her SS12/13 collection with prints used within the collection derived by photographs she took whilst in Europe. This collection uses sorbet shades to convey a ladylike appeal with an underlying virile quality.

The Fashion Patriot managed to catch Bianca before she heads off to the UK to chat about Batson, SS13 trends and her style crush!

The Great Gatsby

For those of you who haven't yet seen The Great Gatsby trailer that went viral today, it is a MUST!

Oh. My. God!

The Baz Lurhmann directed film just oozes opulence... I had a serious 1920s moment, and felt an immediate desire to find the perfect flapper dress just so I could channel Daisy Buchanan.

Before seeing the trailer I wasn't even that interested in seeing the film, but the costumes, the transformation of Sydney to New York and of course, Leonardo have definitely changed my mind. I seriously haven't been this excited for a film in years!

Baz is a genius, and with that stellar cast, The Great Gatsby is sure to be a hit.

Behati Prinsloo is the New Face of Seafolly

Namibian model, Behati Prinsloo has been named the new face of Australian swimwear brand, Seafolly. The Victoria's Secret model is looking bronzed and beautiful in these campaigns, shot by David Gubert in Palm Springs earlier this year.

I think she's a perfect fit for Seafolly, she embodies fun, beauty and fashion-forwardness, which reflects the Seafolly philosophy.
