Martin Grant at PFW
Martin Grant is probably one of Australia's most successful fashion exports... However most Aussies have never even heard of him. He moved to Europe over 20 years ago, after his first collection was thought up on Little Collins St in Melbourne. He is one of two Australians who have membership to the Federation Francaise de la Couture, the governing body of the French fashion industry, the other being Collette Dinnigan. His designs are stocked in exclusive boutiques and department stores worldwide, including, Harvey Nichols, Barneys and Saks Fifth Avenue. He designs Barneys’ signature women’s wear line, The Barneys Collection, and also consults to two Italian fashion houses, and a few years back, he was headhunted to replace Michael Kors as artistic director at Celine, but he declined due to existing commitments. He shows his collections twice a year at Paris Fashion Week and he never ceases to amaze the crowd, this SS11/12 collection was no exception, where colour was definitely his story for spring.
