Anja Rubik, Vogue Australia's April 2011 Cover Girl
Considering Vogue has been described as the "world's most influential fashion magazine" by The New York Times' Caroline Weber, you'd think that Vogue Australia would strive to maintain that acclaim by showcasing all that the Australian fashion industry has to offer. Instead, international designers are dominantly featured in each month's issue of the mag, and the Aussie designers are kept in the shadows.
One example of this is Anja's spread in the April 2011 issue.... 13 different looks, 1 Aussie designer showcased; Romance was Born. The rest of the editorial features the likes of Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Gucci, Miu Miu, Chanel and Christopher Kane.
Editorials like these are the underlying reason we are so passionate about The Fashion Patriot, the Australian fashion industry deserves to be shown off :)
